CSM Learning Objectives

The CSM® certification course has been designed to give candidates a comprehensive understanding of Scrum and Agile concepts. Its learning objective is to ensure that all candidates are theoretically and practically ready to implement Scrum flawlessly in real time. As you are already accustomed to the primary goal, let's dig deep into it and learn more about the CSM course's learning objectives in detail.

1. Lean, Agile, and Scrum:

Have you ever heard about the exceptional concept of Lean thinking? If not, you will often hear about this concept from industry leaders and other facilitators, as the roots of Lean methodology and the famous Kaizen method are primary areas covered in this syllabus. What is the relation between the 7 Lean manufacturing wastes and the Seven product development wastes? What is even the relationship between Agile Engineering Practices and Lean Practices? All these concepts are included in the CSM® certification learning objectives.

2. Scrum Master Core Competencies:

The Scrum master study guide helps us master the five Scrum Values: focus, courage, commitment, openness, and respect. The material also helps us facilitate effective Scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Coach and mentor the Development Team to self-organize and deliver high-quality work. Remove impediments that hinder the team's progress.

3. Learn Agile Methodologies

Agile methodologies play a crucial role in creating and developing an Agile team. That's why the concepts of Agile methodology are also included in the list of learning objectives. The candidate must understand the fundamentals of Agile methodology, which consist of Agile coaching, assumptions, fundamentals, the basic psychological concept of transforming and understanding an individual’s behavior, and the coaching agreement structure.

4. Learn Agile Facilitation

It has already been proved that Agile meetings always fetch better results. That is why the key focus of a facilitator is always on conducting Agile meetings and creating great collaborations within the organization. Therefore this learning objective also includes open discussions like written pairs, group discussions, etc. The candidate will get to know the benefits of each.

5. Service to the Development Team:

The candidates will learn how to create an excellent Agile development team. Motivating the team members to accelerate the work is also necessary. Therefore we can provide this learning objective in four different categories.

• Fulfilling team dynamics: The candidates will learn how to utilize models like the Team Performance Curve and Tuckman Model to grow and develop an Agile team.
• Building team effectiveness: The participants will learn different techniques, including healthy conflict management and trust-building, to solve team disruptions. They will also understand why and how an Agile team is more effective than a traditional one.
• Software Craftsmanship: Under software craftsmanship, the candidates will understand and learn new methods to amplify an Agile team's talent.
• How to coach the Developers: The candidates will learn to set up a coaching module. They will also understand how to set up goals and methods to execute them successfully and the perfect legalities to enforce.

6. Service to the Organization:

This is a crucial learning objective that covers two essential aspects.

• How to develop an organization: The candidates will learn about the nature of different complex systems. For example, the candidates will perceive the cause and effect of a particular situation that can be witnessed only after that special event. The level of disagreement and uncertainty can also be observed in advance. In short, the candidates will help the organization in every possible way, from improving the Scrum process to facilitating change and growth, addressing dysfunctions in the company, or even incorporating different processes for organizational improvement.
• Scaling: Here, the candidates will learn how to successfully implement collaboration between multiple Scrum teams.

7. Serving the Product Owner

The responsibility of a Product Owner is to define the real vision behind developing the product and its brilliant features. Facilitating knowledge and information between stakeholders and the Product Owner is crucial, and after completing the certification, the candidates will easily handle it. You will gradually understand how to move discussion information from the vision of a Product Owner to the Developer’s workable product.

8. Scrum Master

The primary goals of this learning objective are to review different Scrum values and discuss them with the team to implement Scrum within the organization in different ways.
